Requirements for certification in all DBC courses are:
SafeSport course. https://coach.ca/sport-safety/safe-sport-training It’s free and all online.
First Aid including CPR and AED. There are several providers that offer this. You can take the 8-hour or 16-hour course. Online courses are not accepted.

This course is easy and fully online.
This course will ensure your steersperson has the skills required to confidently steer races.
Accreditation requirements include course attendance, successful display of required skills acquisition, proof of Safe Sport, Pleasure Craft Operators License and First Aid Certification.
This full day course features:
low instructor : participant ratio
in-class theory and on-water application
highly skilled, experienced and knowledgeable facilitators.
Skills taught, practiced and tested will include:
crew commands and vocabulary
forward and reverse steering
left and right turns
arriving and departing docks
Volunteer paddlers will be utilized whenever possible to ensure maximum experience at the helm.
These requirements do not need to be completed before taking the course but are needed for certification.
